Pre-Session
These materials are compiled to welcome you to the Sonoran Desert… to attune your senses to the wonderment and complexities, as well as the challenges and contestations of the Arizona-Sonora Borderlands. In addition to the required issue of ‘The Smoke Signal’ – a compilation of essays by people with expertise in many of the topics we will cover on the ground – these supplementary poems, passages, podcasts and more aim to center you in the myriad species, places, identities and spaces in this region.
